The Functions of the Moral Law

The law points out sin and convicts of sin. (romans 3:20; 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

The law is the schoolmaster to drive the sinner to Christ (Galatians 3:24)

The law witnesses that the righteousness a believer has in Christ Jesus is the genuine article (romans 3:21,22)

The law of God cannot make a person righteous because it is weak through the flesh. (romans 8:2) Our Lord came in the likeness
or sameness of sinful flesh (nature) and for sin condemned sin in the flesh. The 10 commandments cannot make a person
righteous that is the work of God based on the merits of Jesus.
