Is the bible in harmony with itself?

Miller publicly professed his faith in the religion which he had despised. But his infidel associates were not slow to bring forward all those arguments which he himself had often urged against the divine authority of the Scriptures. He was not then prepared to answer them; but he reasoned that if the Bible is a revelation from God, it must be consistent with itself; and that as it was given for man’s instruction, it must be adapted to his understanding. He determined to study the Scriptures for himself, and ascertain if every apparent contradiction could not be harmonized. – {GC 319.3}

Endeavoring to lay aside all preconceived opinions, and dispensing with commentaries, he compared scripture with scripture by the aid of the marginal references and the concordance. He pursued his study in a regular and methodical manner; beginning with Genesis, and reading verse by verse, he proceeded no faster than the meaning of the several passages so unfolded as to leave him free from all embarrassment. When he found anything obscure, it was his custom to compare it with every other text which seemed to have any reference to the matter under consideration. Every word was permitted to have its proper bearing upon the subject of the text, and if his view of it harmonized with every collateral passage, it ceased to be a difficulty. Thus whenever he met with a passage hard to be understood he found an explanation in some other portion of the Scriptures. As he studied with earnest prayer for divine enlightenment, that which had before appeared dark to his understanding was made clear. He experienced the truth of the psalmist’s words: “The entrance of Thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalm 119:130. – {GC 320.1}

When we meet contradicting statements in the bible we are to do like William Miller, ok compare the whole bible to itself to arrive at truth. They are apposing statements in the bible that seem to teach different things. When we meet these statements we establish the principle and allow the principle to determine the meaning of a passage.

God is in unchanging and unchangable, therefore if we know who God is it is easy to understand the difficult passages.

We need prayer power

We need prayer power

The experience of the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane contains a lesson for the Lord's people today.... They did not realize the necessity of watchfulness and earnest prayer in order to withstand temptation. Many today are fast asleep, as were the disciples. They are not watching and praying lest they enter into temptation. Let us often read and give careful study to those portions of God's Word that have special reference to these last days, pointing out the dangers that will threaten God's people.—(In Heavenly Places, 97.) – {Pr 18.1}

Think about It

The heart of God yearns over His earthly children with a love stronger than death. In giving up His Son, He has poured out to us all heaven in one gift. The Saviour’s life and death and intercession, the ministry of angels, the pleading of the Spirit, the Father working above and through all, the unceasing interest of heavenly beings,--all are enlisted in behalf of man’s redemption. {SC 21.2}

Oh, let us contemplate the amazing sacrifice that has been made for us! Let us try to appreciate the labor and energy that Heaven is expending to reclaim the lost, and bring them back to the Father’s house. Motives stronger, and agencies more powerful, could never be brought into operation; the exceeding rewards for right-doing, the enjoyment of heaven, the society of the angels, the communion and love of God and His Son, the elevation and extension of all our powers throughout eternal ages--are these not mighty incentives and encouragements to urge us to give the heart’s loving service to our Creator and Redeemer? {SC 21.3}

Help me God

When in doubt of life’s outcomes cry out to God who alone knows the end from the beginning end more than that God has the solution to the problem before we ask. He had seen it from all eternity … He has made a way from all eternity … why not trust the Almighty with your cares and fears

Priesthood of All Believers

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. [1]

9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.[2]

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.[3]

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiarb people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:[4]

Be Prepared Always

There no one who could explain what we see

But the father God almighty

He said it then and we  still don't believe that

The second coming of Christ we will see

And we should be ready

The warning are like wipes upon the our backs like slaves

But no one won't run from the humble pain but we raise our hands

Shout awhile.....then the wipes are been removed from thee

But the great pain of our sinful life is almost at an end when the

Salve mastery return like the devil from hell.

For those who hide to his warnings are yet to be save

Keep your ways as follower for we are sheep

Don’t stray away for the shepherd and run from his feet

The time is near be there more I say

The savior is waiting come all saints our time is today

The trial of Your Faith

Jesus will see the travail of His soul and be satisfied. Can you imagine what our saviour went through to redeem fallen man? the song writer says “lest I forget thy love for me, lead me to Calvary.” What beautiful words! The love of God was manifested in  giving His only Son to die for sinners.

Persecution Will Come

"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:10.

Jesus does not present to His followers the hope of attaining earthly glory and riches, and of having a life free from trial, but He presents to them the privilege of walking with their Master in the paths of self-denial and reproach, because the world knows them not. {MB 29.1}

He who came to redeem the lost world was opposed by the united forces of the adversaries of God and man. In an unpitying confederacy, evil men and evil angels arrayed themselves against the Prince of Peace. Though His every word and act breathed of divine compassion, His unlikeness to the world provoked the bitterest hostility. Because He would give no license for the exercise of the evil passions of our nature, He aroused the fiercest opposition and enmity. So it is with all who will live godly in Christ Jesus. Between righteousness and sin, love and hatred, truth and falsehood, there is an irrepressible conflict. When one presents the love of Christ and the beauty of holiness, he is drawing away the subjects of Satan’s kingdom, and the prince of evil is aroused to resist it. Persecution and reproach await all who are imbued with the Spirit of Christ. The character of the persecution changes with the times, but the principle--the spirit that underlies it--is the same that has slain the chosen of the Lord ever since the days of Abel. {MB 29.2}

As men seek to come into harmony with God, they [BEGIN P.30] will find that the offense of the cross has not ceased. Principalities and powers and wicked spirits in high places are arrayed against all who yield obedience to the law of heaven. Therefore, so far from causing grief, persecution should bring joy to the disciples of Christ, for it is an evidence that they are following in the steps of their Master. {MB 29.3}

While the Lord has not promised His people exemption from trials, He has promised that which is far better. He has said, "As thy days, so shall thy strength be." "My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Deuteronomy 33:25; 2 Corinthians 12:9. If you are called to go through the fiery furnace for His sake, Jesus will be by your side even as He was with the faithful three in Babylon. Those who love their Redeemer will rejoice at every opportunity of sharing with Him humiliation and reproach. The love they bear their Lord makes suffering for His sake sweet. {MB 30.1}

In all ages Satan has persecuted the people of God. He has tortured them and put them to death, but in dying they became conquerors. They revealed in their steadfast faith a mightier One than Satan. Satan could torture and kill the body, but he could not touch the life that was hid with Christ in God. He could incarcerate in prison walls, but he could not bind the spirit. They could look beyond the gloom to the glory, saying, "I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." "Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." Romans 8:18; 2 Corinthians 4:17. [BEGIN P.31] {MB 30.2}

Through trials and persecution, the glory--character--of God is revealed in His chosen ones. The church of God, hated and persecuted by the world, are educated and disciplined in the school of Christ. They walk in narrow paths on earth; they are purified in the furnace of affliction. They follow Christ through sore conflicts; they endure self-denial and experience bitter disappointments; but their painful experience teaches them the guilt and woe of sin, and they look upon it with abhorrence. Being partakers of Christ’s sufferings, they are destined to be partakers of His glory. In holy vision the prophet saw the triumph of the people of God. He says, "I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory, . . . stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints." "These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple: and He that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them." Revelation 15:2, 3; 7:14, 15. {MB 31.1}

Do you know God?

It is Satan's constant effort to misrepresent the character of God, the nature of sin, and the real issues at stake in the great controversy. His sophistry lessens the obligation of the divine law and gives men license to sin. At the same time he causes them to cherish false conceptions of God so that they regard Him with fear and hate rather than with love. The cruelty inherent in his own character is attributed to the Creator; it is embodied in systems of religion and expressed in modes of worship. Thus the minds of men are blinded, and Satan secures them as his agents to war against God. By perverted conceptions of the divine attributes, heathen nations were led to believe human sacrifices necessary to secure the favor of Deity; and horrible cruelties have been perpetrated under the various forms of idolatry. {GC 569.1}

Flight of faith

When the bible mentions Joseph it always says and God was with him and blessed him. Do you remember Joseph?
His brothers sold him as a slave, his masters wife tried to lie with him, the butler he helped in jail forgot him ...
But through it all Joseph never forgot God and the teaching he learned from his father about God's wonderful
dealings with him. Jacob recounted the ladder he saw, how God lead him and his family ... imagine those wonderful
lessons from a father. That cemented the faith of his son as an exile and long after in Egypt. Did God cause the
trouble that befell him? Did God set the agencies in place to entrap and ensnare Joseph? Certainly not and
certainly He never will with any of us. his mission like that of His eternal Son is always and only to redeem.

Developing Character in Children

Home Discipline

The work of parents precedes that of the teacher. They have a home school,–the first grade. If they seek carefully and prayerfully to know and to do their duty, they will prepare their children to enter the second grade,–to receive instructions from the teacher. If parents are so engrossed in the business and pleasures of this life that they neglect the proper discipline of their children, the work of the teacher is not only made very hard and trying, but often rendered wholly fruitless.

We never needed close connection with God more than we need it to-day. One of the greatest dangers that beset God's people has ever been from conformity to worldly maxims and customs. The youth especially are in constant peril. Fathers and mothers should be on their guard against the wiles of Satan. While he is seeking to accomplish the ruin of their children, let not parents flatter themselves that there is no particular danger. Let them not give thought and care to the things of this world, while the higher, eternal interests of their children are neglected.

None should permit themselves, through the week, to become so absorbed in their temporal interests, and so exhausted by their efforts for worldly gain, that on the Sabbath they have no strength or energy to give to the service of God. We are robbing the Lord, when we unfit ourselves to worship him upon his holy day. And we are robbing ourselves as well; for we need the warmth and glow of association, as well as the strength to be gained from the wisdom and experience of other Christians.

Fathers and mothers should make it a rule that their children attend public worship on the Sabbath, and should enforce the rule by their own example. It is our duty to command our children and our household after us, as did Abraham. By example as well as precept we should impress upon them the importance of religious teaching. All who have taken the baptismal vow have solemnly consecrated themselves to the service of God; they are under covenant obligation to place themselves and their children where they may obtain all possible incentives and encouragement in the Christian life.

Those who take upon themselves the name of Christ, should be unmistakably devoted to his cause, and identified with his people. But if all the thoughts and energies are given to temporal affairs, if they have no time, strength, or interest for the service of Christ, they are not his disciples. Their names should be dropped from the church records. Of what benefit to the church are names, without the interest and support of the persons whom the names represent?

When the children of Christian parents take delight in skepticism, deeming it a token of manly independence to doubt the Scriptures and sneer at religion; when they excuse their own delinquencies by pointing to the faults of church-members,–let the father and mother inquire if this is not the fruit of their own influence and example. The Lord will work with the efforts of those who seek him with all the heart. If world-loving parents would but labor as earnestly for the salvation of their children as they now labor to promote their temporal interests, they might see them faithful workers in the cause of Christ. We read in the word of God that as the result of apostolic prayers and labors, the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Similar efforts put forth to-day will produce similar results.

Great is the sacrifice by which Christ has purchased his people; great are the privileges set before us in the gospel. A corresponding zeal and devotion are in return required from us. The great apostle writes to his Corinthian brethren, "I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy; for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." And again he bids them, "Be ye followers of God as dear children," and "walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called," "being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God." But where is the simplicity and fervent piety which should be seen among those who make so exalted a profession? How much careful thought and study are now given to copying the character of Christ? How do they compare with the attention and interest given to our earthly, temporal affairs?
Let the words of Christ come home to the world-loving professors of godliness, "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter the kingdom of Heaven. Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of Heaven as a little child, shall in nowise enter therein." We should teach our children lessons of simplicity and trust. We should teach them to love, and fear, and obey their Creator. In all the plans and purposes of life, his glory should be held paramount; his love should be the mainspring of every action.
Worldly wisdom, intellectual ability, mental training, will not give the knowledge requisite for an entrance into Christ's kingdom. The wise and prudent of this world cannot comprehend it. The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

Children are committed to their parents as a precious trust, which God will one day require at their hands. We should give to their training more time, more care, and more prayer. They need more of the right kind of instruction. The word of God should be the man of our counsel, the guide and instructor of old and young. Parents can, if they will, interest their children in the varied knowledge found in its sacred pages. Children will learn to love that which the parents love. Those who would interest their sons and daughters in Bible study, and impress its truths upon their minds, must themselves feel its ennobling, sanctifying influence. They must exemplify its sacred principles in daily life.

If we desire our children to love and reverence God, we must talk of his goodness, his majesty, and his power, as displayed in the works of creation and in the sacred word. If we desire them to love and imitate the character of Christ, we must tell them of the sacrifice which he made for our redemption, of the humility and self-denial, the matchless love and sympathy, displayed in his life on earth, and then tell them that this is the pattern which we are to follow. We should tell them often the wonderful story of the Saviour's life; of his early youth, when he was subject to such temptations as they have to meet; of his obedience and filial love, as he toiled in the workshop at Nazareth, aiding his father to bear the burdens of life. We should tell them of his generous, self-denying course, his spotless purity, his love for little children, his compassion for the sorrowing and the sinful.

When children err, parents should take time to read to them tenderly from the word of God such admonitions as are particularly applicable to their case. When they are tried, tempted, or discouraged, cite them to its precious words of comfort, and gently lead them to put their trust in Jesus. Thus the young mind may be directed to that which is pure and ennobling. And as the great problems of life, and the dealings of God with the human race, are unfolded to the understanding, the reasoning powers are exercised, the judgement enlisted, while lessons of divine truth are impressed upon the heart. Thus parents may be daily molding the characters of their children, that they may have a fitness for the future life.

Oh, what a field is committed to parents and teachers! How have they labored in this vineyard of the Lord? It is a sad fact that the most important objects to be secured in the education of the youth, are often neglected as of little moment. The value of the early years in forming right habits, and cherishing firm, pure principles, are appreciated by few.

Parents should not pass lightly over the sins of their children. When these sins are pointed out by some faithful friend, the parent should not feel that his rights are invaded, that he has received a personal offense. The habits of every youth and every child affect the welfare of society. The wrong course of one youth may lead many others in an evil way. Parents should not look on in silence while their children are corrupted by some vicious companion.

It is for the interest of all, that the youth be subjected to proper restraint. Yet it is often the case that when a God-fearing teacher attempts to correct in a pupil habits which have been fastened by the lax discipline of the parents, he will arouse the indignation of these parents. Not only do they neglect their own divinely-appointed responsibility, but they attempt to hinder the teacher from discharging his duty, and cast upon him the blame for the perversity of their evil-minded children.

Some indulgent, ease-loving parents fear to exercise wholesome authority over their unruly sons, lest they run away from home. It would be better for some to do this than to remain at home to live upon the bounties provided by the parents, and at the same time trample upon all authority, both human and divine. It might be a most profitable experience for such children to have to the full that independence which they think so desirable, to learn that it costs exertion to live. Let the parent say to the boy who threatens to run away from home, "My son, if you are determined to leave home rather than comply with just and proper rules, we will not hinder you. If you think to find the world more friendly than the parents who have cared for you from infancy, you must learn your mistake for yourself. When you wish to come to your father's house, to be subject to his authority, you will be welcome. Obligations are mutual. While you have food and clothing and parental care, you are in return under obligation to submit to home rules and wholesome discipline. My house cannot be polluted with the stench of tobacco, with profanity or drunkenness. I desire that angels of God shall come into my home. If you are fully determined to serve Satan, you will be as well off with those whose society you love, as you will be at home."
Such a course would check the downward career of thousands. But too often children know that they may do their worst, and yet an unwise mother will plead for them, and conceal their transgressions. Many a rebellious son exults because his parents have not the courage to restrain him. They may expostulate, as did Eli, but they do not enforce obedience. Such parents are encouraging their children in dissipation, and are dishonoring God by their unwise indulgence. It is these rebellious, corrupt youth that form the most difficult element to control in schools and colleges.

Sin should be faithfully reproved, and right discipline promptly and firmly enforced. Yet harsh dealing will not help the wrong-doer to see his error or to reform. Let all needed reproof or correction be given in the spirit which actuated our Saviour. Let firmness and decision be blended with sympathy and love. By wise management, the wayward, stubborn youth may be transformed. Parents, to accomplish such work, you need Christ-like patience and self-command. Do not irritate by a sharp word or an angry look. Be calm; and let your heart often ascend in prayer to God for grace and wisdom. Angels will come to your side, and help you to raise up a standard against the enemy.

Make your children feel that you love them, and desire to do them good. Encourage every effort to do right. Show them that you have confidence in them. Remember that your example will be the most impressive lesson which you can give. Your courtesy and self-control will have greater influence upon the characters of your children than mere words could have.
You must yourselves labor for the spiritual welfare of those under your care. You should not seek to lay this burden upon others. You cannot transfer to others your responsibility. Converse with your children upon personal religion. Learn just where they stand. Pray with them and for them singly. Jesus won men by personal contact, his heart reaching the hearts of the people. We must work as Christ worked. Improve every opportunity. Make religion the vital question of life. Teach your children that every worldly consideration should be made second to their eternal interests.

Remember that your sons and daughters are younger members of God's family. He has committed them to your care, to train and educate for Heaven. You must render an account to him for the manner in which you discharge your sacred trust."(RH, 1882.6.13)

The Functions of the Moral Law

The law points out sin and convicts of sin. (romans 3:20; 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

The law is the schoolmaster to drive the sinner to Christ (Galatians 3:24)

The law witnesses that the righteousness a believer has in Christ Jesus is the genuine article (romans 3:21,22)

The law of God cannot make a person righteous because it is weak through the flesh. (romans 8:2) Our Lord came in the likeness
or sameness of sinful flesh (nature) and for sin condemned sin in the flesh. The 10 commandments cannot make a person
righteous that is the work of God based on the merits of Jesus.

The book of Job

Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Job 38:2

It was generally believed by the Jews that sin is punished in this life. Every affliction was regarded as the penalty of some wrongdoing,
 either of the sufferer himself or of his parents. It is true that all suffering results from the transgression of God's law,
but this truth had become perverted. Satan, the author of sin and all its results, had led men to look upon disease and death as proceeding from God,
--as punishment arbitrarily inflicted on account of sin. Hence one upon whom some great affliction or calamity had fallen had the additional burden
of being regarded as a great sinner. {DA 471.1}

Thus the way was prepared for the Jews to reject Jesus. He who "hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows"
was looked upon by the Jews as "stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted;" and they hid their faces from Him. Isa. 53:4, 3. {DA 471.2}

God had given a lesson designed to prevent this. The history of Job had shown that suffering is inflicted by Satan,
 and is overruled by God for purposes of mercy. But Israel did not understand the lesson.
The same error for which God had reproved the friends of Job was repeated by the Jews in their rejection of Christ. {DA 471.3}

Man's Ways

For man's anger does not promote the righteousness God [wishes and requires]. (James 1:20 AMP)

8 And the king said to Hazael, Take a present in your hand and go meet the man of God, and inquire of the Lord by him, saying, Shall I recover from this disease? 9 So Hazael went to meet Elisha and took a present with him of every good thing of Damascus, forty camel loads, and came and stood before him and said, Your son Ben-hadad king of Syria has sent me to you, asking, Shall I recover from this disease? 10 And Elisha said, Go, say to him, You shall certainly recover; but the Lord has shown me that he shall certainly die. 11 Elisha stared steadily at him until Hazael was embarrassed. And the man of God wept. 12 And Hazael said, Why do you weep, my lord? He answered, Because I know the evil that you will do to the Israelites.  You will burn their strongholds, slay their young men with the sword, dash their infants in pieces, and rip up their pregnant women. 13 And Hazael said, What is your servant, only a dog, that he should do this monstrous thing? And Elisha answered,
The Lord has shown me that you will be king over Syria. 14 Then [Hazael] departed from Elisha and came to his master, who said to him, What did Elisha say to you? And he answered, He told me you would surely recover. 15 But the next day Hazael took the bedspread and dipped it in water and spread it on [the Syrian king's] face, so that he died. And Hazael reigned in his stead. 16 In the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel,  Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign. (2 Kings 8:8 AMP)

The patience of God has an object, but you are defeating it. He is allowing a state of things to come that you would fain see counteracted by and by,but it will be too late. God commanded Elijah to anoint the cruel and deceitful Hazael king over Syria, that he might be a scourge to idolatrous Israel. Who knows whether God will not give you up to the deceptions you love? Who knows but that the preachers who are faithful, firm,
and true may be the last who shall offer the gospel of peace to our unthankful churches? It may be that the destroyers are already training under the hand of Satan and only wait the departure of a few more standard-bearers to take their places, and with the voice of the false prophet cry, Peace, peace," when the Lord hath not spoken peace. I seldom weep, but now I find my eyes blinded with tears; they are falling upon my paper as I write. It may be that erelong all prophesyings among us will be at an end, and the voice which has stirred the people may no longer disturb their carnal slumbers. {5T 77.1}

When God shall work His strange work on the earth, when holy hands bear the ark no longer, woe will be upon the people. Oh, that thou hadst known, even thou, in this thy day, the things that belong unto thy peace!
Oh, that our [BEGIN P.78] people may, as did Nineveh, repent with all their might and believe with all their heart, that God may turn away His fierce anger from them. {5T 77.2}

Changelessness

 "For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed."(Mal 3:6)

" Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with *evil, neither tempteth he any man:
 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.  Do not err, my beloved brethren.  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."(Jam 1:13-17)

What a thought! Our God does not change there is not even a shadow to indicate a possibility of divergence from the one true path.

God created the worlds from nothing and sustains them by His word. All creation stands in need of His care and provisions, isn't it

assuring to know that He will never change?

But what about after sin and the changes that occurred in our world and the universe? Did it bring about a change in God's character and

the nature of His dealings with the human family after Adam was tempted and fell? God created His creatures and sustains them, would He

violently kill them, drown them in a flood, burn them up in brimstone and ashes? Is that consistent?

Man exercised his free choice in the wrong direction must he now suffer the wrath of an offended God? Must death be meted out for his

high treason? The death of Our Lord Jesus Christ shows that God would rather give all than suffer His creatures to be afflicted by sin and death.

In fact, the death of Christ shows without a doubt that sin not God is responsible for suffering, disease and death.

The God-Man

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:12

Many persons are caught in the trap of attributing to God the characteristics of man. Man was made in the image of God

and therefore man was to reflect his maker, but the character that he received after the fall has been warped

and continues to degenerate because of sin. Traditionally, God is seen as vengeful and vindictive. Why? because

humans by fallen nature are. God is seen as needing to be appeased, humans by fallen nature are. God is seen as

oppressive, cruel, dictatorial all aspects of our fallen nature have been attributed to our loving creator. Some persons

even justify this by saying " God is God so He is sovereign" or " The bible says God kills that settles it for me."

But is God like that, humans certainly are but what about God?

7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.  8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.  9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55: 7-9)

God's ways are eternally higher than our, and His love is beyond our finite comprehension. Only in eternal will we truly see more than we faintly see

now. God is love, he doesn't react or act like us. His ways and thoughts and mind are free from selfishness.

Separation is Painful

Don't think that the Lord is too weak to save you or too deaf to hear your call for help!2 It is because of your sins that he doesn't hear you. It is your sins that separate you from God when you try to worship him.3 You are guilty of lying, violence, and murder. (Isaiah 59: 1 - 3 GNB)

Sin always causes a separation that is the nature of it. Destruction and death are also the outworking of sin. the bible says "sin produces death,  ... the wages of sin is death, ... death by sin." (James 1:13-15, Romans 6:23, 5:12 KJV)

Separation from God produces death, but why?

When God created He also sustained. He did not back off and let nature run its course as evolutionists want us to believe. God is actively sustaining the greatest to the least atom in the
universe but His grace.

After sin occurred, in came death. Death is an "enemy," an intruder, it causes God to "hide His face."

Sin is really an individual telling God that they are ok and they need not His law, protection, love or watch care.
What can God do for such a person? Appeal to their better judgement, and if they persist, ultomately respect
their choice.

If God sustains the universe, what will happen if He stops sustaining a creature? they will fall victim to the
ravenous onslaught of the devil like Job did, but Job was "hedged" in by God. Imagine when they are not.

God wants His intelligent creatures to see the separation that sin causes and flee from sin into the arms
of their loving misunderstood God. God's character exposes the lies of satan.

Wrath of Man

For man's anger does not promote the righteousness God [wishes and requires]. (James 1:20 AMP)

The wrath of God is God's respecting a persons free choice and giving them up to that decision that they

have made. God does not forsake a person to their own course without pleading with them. This Spirit

of God (John 6:63) pleads with them to return to God's way but God cannot remove the consequences (Exodus 34:6).

Imagine a mother leaving her child in the road after an accident saying " you deserve it, you should not have played in the road

you should have listened to me!" That's hard to imagine but is it easy to see God in that light?

Punishing His creatures for exercising their free choice, which he has graciously bestowed.

Why would God give freedom then punish His creatures for rebelling? Rebellion is inherent in choice.

A creature can choose to give or withhold obedience, God government is based on higher principles, principles of agape love.

The Spirit of God commissioned by Jesus Christ has been sent as the Comforter to remind fallen man of the wonderful character of

our God.

Rest to Your Soul

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."(Matt 11:28-30)

The rest that God promises is the eternal rest in the eternal God. Rest and peace are inseparable, there can be no rest
without peace. Not worldy peace found in the enforcement of man-made laws and exaction but the peace that the
weary heart longingly desires.

God has provided this peace. He has broken down the wall of partition and released the weary soul from the
grip of guilt and the power of sin. Knowing God through Jesus Christ brings deeper and more exalted conceptions of the character
of God. Seeing the eternal Creator give His life for His creatures put His love high above all earthly attractions, it brings a
peace in knowing that God would do all to save and has saved us "in Christ." We are asked only to believe these facts of the gospel
and let the love of God carry us through.

Knowing who God is is essential to true rest. Knowing how He relates to us, Knowing all the dimentions of His love that He
has revealed in His Son should be the constant study of all believers. Take up the yolk of Christ and learn of Him. God invites us to
labour and find true rest.

Love of Christ

"In faith the woman of Phoenicia flung herself against the barriers that had been piled up between Jew and Gentile. Against discouragement, regardless of appearances that might have led her to doubt, she trusted the Saviour's love. It is thus that Christ desires us to trust in Him. The blessings of salvation are for every soul. Nothing but his own choice can prevent any man from becoming a partaker of the promise in Christ by the gospel.

Caste is hateful to God. He ignores everything of this character. In His sight the souls of all men are of equal value. He "hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; that they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him, though He be not far from every one of us." Without distinction of age, or rank, or nationality, or religious privilege, all are invited to come unto Him and live. "Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference." "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free." "The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the Maker of them all." "The same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Acts 17:26, 27; Gal. 3:28; Prov. 22:2; Rom. 10:11-13."(DA, 403)

God the Executioner?

When the statement is made, "Their sufferings are often represented
as a punishment visited upon them by the direct decree of
God .. ." there is no direct evaluation in the sentence itself attesting
to its being a correct or incorrect assessment of God's works.

However, there is the inference that it is not right in that it is rated
as being the more commonly held representation. Knowing that
the majority are deluded in this sphere, it is correct to assess this
as an incorrect evaluation. This is confirmed by the next sentence
which directly charges it with being a device of Satanic origin designed
to shift the blame from the devil to God. "It is thus that the
great deceiver seeks to conceal his own work."

So, not only is the above idea the result of wrong principles of Bible
interpretation, it is also the very means employed by the devil
to conceal the true nature of his own work, by attributing it to God,
while to himself he credits the work and character of God. Therefore,
it is to be rejected for what it is—a dangerous philosophy of
Satan. While his view is entertained, it is impossible to form correct
concepts of God's character.

Further, we are informed that the Lord did not leave of His own
choice. It was the Jews who "had caused the protection of God to be
withdrawn from them," thus permitting Satan to finally work his
evil designs upon them.

Then there is laid down forever the precious truth that "God does
not stand toward the sinner as an executioner of the sentence
against transgression; but He leaves the rejectors of His mercy to
themselves, to reap that which they have sown." What befell the
Jews was the natural outworking of their own course of action. It
was not something brought upon them by God. They had sown the
seed; now they must gather the certain harvest.

We have before us a revelation of the course God pursued toward
the Israelites which is the same as that with Saul. It is now necessary
to find how God Himself described what He did.

THE WONDERFUL NUMBERER

This is a little jewel. You will hardly find this mentioned anywhere, aside from a single phrase in the
margin of the KJV Bible. For over thirty years, the only source of information the present author has ever
found for this is a brief statement in F.C. Gilbert's book, Practical Lessons for the Church of Today, pp.
606-608, published by the Review in 1902. Elder Gilbert was a converted Jew and knew Hebrew very well.
Here is his entire comment. You will value this:

The F.C. Gilbert statement-"From the text of Daniel 8:13, it appears that there were three persons
connected with that vision. As to who these three persons were, the margin of the verse makes it a little
more clear. We can receive still further clearness from a more literal translation of the text. Here is a literal
translation of the first part of the thirteenth verse:

"And I heard a holy one speaking, and a holy one said to Palmoni, who was the speaker, How long
shall be the vision,' etc.

"In the margin of the text where the words, 'that certain saint which spake' are found, these words are
written: 'The numberer of secrets, or the wonderful numberer' (Hebrew: Palmoni).

"We find then in verse 13: the speaker, called the wonderful numberer; the holy one, and Daniel. These
were the three persons in the vision. Now the more literal translation of the text makes plain that the
speaker was the one called Palmoni; for the Hebrew reads as follows: La-pal-moni, Ham-da-bar unto
Palmoni, the speaker.

"The Hebrew word, Palmoni, is a contracted word. It contains the elements of two Hebrew words. One
is, Pele, and the other is Ma-na. The Hebrew word, Pele, means wonderful. See Isaiah 9:6. The word,
Mana, means numbered. See Daniel 5:25-26. So this contracted Hebrew word, Palmoni, literally means
wonderful numberer. This Wonderful Numberer is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. See Isaiah 9:6.
"So one person in the vision, recorded in Daniel 8:13, was the Lord Jesus; the second person,
represented by the holy one, was the angel Gabriel. See Daniel 8:16, and compare with Luke 1:19. The
third person was Daniel, the prophet. There was something about this vision which Daniel could not
understand. So the angel Gabriel asked the Lord Jesus a question for the benefit of Daniel, that the desire of
Daniel might be made clear. Instead of the Lord Jesus turning to the angel Gabriel and giving him the
answer, the prophet Daniel says that the speaker turned to him, to Daniel, and gave the answer direct to
him. Here is what the prophet says:

" 'And He [that is, Palmoni, the Wonderful Numberer, Christ] said to me,' etc. Daniel 8:14.

"So Christ turned His attention directly to the prophet, and gave the answer to him personally."-F.C.
Gilbert, Practical Lessons for the Church of Today, pp. 606-608,

This is a most thrilling discovery. Here are key points to remember:

• So urgent that Christ gave it-The great truth about the 2300 days was so crucially important that
Christ Himself told it to Daniel. We know of no other time in the book of Daniel that Christ appeared and
spoke to the prophet (with the exception of 12:7-13).

• The Master Counter of numbers presents the longest time span-Christ is here called by the
unique name, "The Wonderful Numberer." Why this strange name? obviously, to call attention to the fact
that the 2300-day prophecy was of the highest importance. Only Christ Himself could present it. He alone,
the Master of all numbers, able to count the stars, was able to provide Daniel with a time span that was
greater than a third of the total time that mankind has been in this world of sin!

• An extremely important question-Daniel, in his perplexity, didn't know what to ask. Because
Daniel might not have asked it, Gabriel asked the question Daniel was thinking. He did this because the
answer was so important. The visitors from heaven did not dare wait for Daniel to think of the question; it
had to be asked for him.

• An answer so important it was given directly to Daniel-Although he had not asked the question,
Christ turned directly to Daniel and gave him the answer, He did it to imprint this keystone time span on
Daniel's mind. It would also arouse the prophet to search the Scriptures and pray for further guidance; later,
in Daniel 9, Gabriel returned and gave the prophet the starting date for this remarkable time span.
The central point of the book-How wonderful is this new insight! What a glorious, pivotal truth is the
2300-day prophecy! Bible scholars tell us it is the central point in the book of Daniel. Resulting from
careful examination of the passage, our denomination arose with a last-day message to the world:
Obedience to the law of God by enabling faith in Jesus Christ is necessary; for the investigative judgment is
soon to close and human probation will forever end.

Thank God for all His precious gifts to us. Let us not lose one of them! Do not let the critics steal any
of them from your heart.

Some critics declare that Daniel 8:14 is meaningless; others say it applies to a third-rate Syrian king.
But that passage was so important that none other than Michael our Prince gave it to us!

Futurism and Preterism?

The Reformers of the sixteenth century, including Martin Luther, Melanchthon, Ulric Zwingli, John
Calvin, Menno Simons, and their associates declared that the papacy was the antichrist of Bible prophecy.
Prior to that time, Rome had tried to destroy copies of the Scriptures, so the truths of Daniel and
Revelation would not be discovered. But, with the invention of printing, the circulation of Bibles, and the
preaching of the Reformers-something had to be done!

In response to Luther's anti-papal protest, two Catholic theologians, Prierias and Eck, declared the
Catholic Church to be the fifth (the stone) kingdom portrayed in Daniel 2. A very proud boast from the
little horn.

The chapters which point to Rome-But what could they do about the prophecies which pointed
directly to Rome as the antichrist power? In the book of Daniel, it was chapters 7, 8, and 9 which identified
when Rome would arise as an international power. It was those three chapters which unmasked its vicious
attempts to destroy the law of God and slay His people.

Sunday, the basis of papal authority-From AD. 1545-1563, the Council of Trent met intermittently
to devise ways to annihilate Protestantism, either by direct warfare or by infiltration. Its earlier change of
the Sabbath to Sunday was declared to be the foundation of its doctrine of Tradition (the words of men) as
superior to Scripture (see the present author's book, Beyond Pitcairn, pp. 132-135, which explains what
happened on January 18, 1562). In addition, the Jesuits were assigned the task of infiltrating palaces,
schools, and Protestant churches. Jesuit theologians were given the task of reinterpreting Bible prophecies
which pointed to the papacy.

Ribera's Futurism-Two Jesuits were especially successful in this latter task. The first was Francisco
Ribera, who in 1537-1541, developed what we today call Futurism. He declared that the prophecies of
Daniel and Revelation would not be fulfilled until the very last days when, for 2300 literal days or about 7
years, an antichrist would appear. It was theorized that, at that time, a Jewish temple would be rebuilt in old
Jerusalem. (In reality, the Muslims will never permit such a temple to be built on the Temple Mount.)
Samuel Maitland, William Burgh, John Darby, James Todd, and John Henry Newman were later
leading Protestant theologians which infiltrated Jesuits used to spread this error throughout modern
Protestantism. The Plymouth Brethren, the High Church Oxford Movement in the Anglican Church, and
the Scofield Bible especially helped in this work.

A variant of this futurism was the development of dispensationalism, one form of which pushes many
of the prophecies to the last days, to be fulfilled by the Jewish people.
Alcazar's Preterism-Another Jesuit, Luis de Alcazar (1554-1613) developed the opposite position,
known as Preterism. This is the teaching that the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation were fulfilled in
ancient times by Antiochus IV Epiphanes, Nero, and/or pagan Rome.

Hugo Grotius, of Holland, and Hammond, of England, helped further this error. Anti-Christian,
German rationalists heavily endorsed it. This included J.C. Eichhorn, G.H.A. Ewald, G.C.F. Lucke,
W.M.L. De Wette, Franz Delitzsch, and Julius Wellhausen. Since 1830, many British and American Bible
teachers have taught it to their students.

The true belief-In contrast, it should be mentioned that many faithful Christian Bible scholars held
that Rome was the antichrist of Daniel and Revelation. This included all the Reformers and, later, such men
as Manuel de Lacunza and Joseph Wolff (both mentioned in Great Controversy), Sir Isaac Newton, Adam
Clarke, Henry Drummond, and Edward Irving.

Ignatius Loyola founded the so-called "Society of Jesus" (the Jesuits) in 1534. Approved by Paul III in
1540, it immediately set to work to either destroy Protestantism or dilute its teachings, when assassination
and warfare were not feasible. For over 450 years, its agents (brilliant men selected for their tenacity) have
infiltrated governments, schools, and churches. These men gradually rose to higher positions as additional
agents were hired into the ranks.

Our Good Shepherd

(a) This truth flows naturally and logically from the gospel as Good
News (Luke 15:1-10). The false idea is that like a shopkeeper, the Lord
regards us indifferently until we take the initiative to ferret Him out from
His hiding place. The truth is that He seeks us (Psalm 119:176; Ezekiel
34:16). 1

(b) If anyone is saved at last it will be due to God's initiative; if
anyone is lost at last, it will be due to his own initiative (Jeremiah 31:3;
John 3:16-19).

(c) Our salvation does not depend on our maintaining a relationship
with God; it depends on our believing that He stands at the door and
knocks—seeking to maintain that relationship with us unless we break it
off (Revelation 3:20).

R.J.Weiland (10 Truths Booklet)

Easy To Be Saved

(a) God does the loving and the giving; our part is to do the believing
(John 3:16, 17). "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who
believes" (Mark 9:23). But the word "believe" must be understood as
the Bible teaches it (Romans 10:10).

(b) "My yoke is easy, and My burden is light," and to resist, to "kick
against the goads," is "hard" (Matthew 11:28; Acts 9:5; 26:14).

(c) The reason why this is true is that "the love [agape] of Christ
constraineth us." Christ's love is active, not passive. The one who
believes the gospel cannot continue living for self (Romans 6:1, 2, 14,
15; 2 Corinthians 5:14, KJV).

(d) Christ's love for each individual person is infinitely greater than
that of a parent for a child (Psalm 27:10; 103:13).

(e) To "kick against the goads" is to resist the Holy Spirit's conviction
of Good News (John 16:7-11).

(f) Light is stronger than darkness, grace is stronger than sin, and
the Holy Spirit is stronger than the flesh (John 1:5, 9; Romans 5:20;
Galatians 5:16, 17).

(g) God is leading every person to repentance, but many refuse His
leading (Romans 2:4).

God's Love Draws

(a) All the life and happiness which the world enjoys is the purchase
of Christ's sacrifice. Every loaf of bread is stamped with His cross (John
6:32, 33, 35, 50-53; cf. The Desire of Ages, p.660). This truth of total
indebtedness to Him is the basis for all genuine Christian experience.

(b) If Christ had not died for the world, we would all have perished.
The Father laid the trespasses of the world on Christ (2 Corinthians 5:19;
Isaiah 53:5, 6). Thus, in a very real sense, Christ's sacrifice has justified
"all men" by giving them a legal "verdict of acquittal" in place of that
"judgment" of "condemnation" "in Adam" (Romans 3:23, 24; 5:15-18,
NEB). When the sinner hears and believes the truth, he experiences
justification by faith (Romans 4:25; Ephesians 2:8-10).

(c) The lost deliberately negate this justification Christ has effected
for them, and take the "condemnation" back upon themselves (Hebrews
10:29; 2 Corinthians 6:1; cf. Steps to Christ, p. 27).

(d) Believers in Christ can say that "He Himself is the propitiation
for our sins." But it is "not for ours only, but also for the whole world" (1
John 2:2). "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish" (John 3:16). Since
He paid the price for all our sins, the only reason anyone can be lost is
refusal to believe, to appreciate, the gift already given "in Him" (verse
18). God does not put us in double jeopardy, for "the Lord has laid
on Him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6). How then can He lay that
iniquity on us again? Paul asks (Romans 8:33-39). The lost take it back
on themselves.

(e) All this adds up to a judicial "verdict of acquittal… and life for all
men," just as surely as Adam's sin brought "a verdict… of condemnation
for all men" (Romans 5:16-18, NEB). The one who believes this Good
News is motivated to total consecration of his all to Christ (2 Corinthians
5:14, 15).
