The God-Man

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:12

Many persons are caught in the trap of attributing to God the characteristics of man. Man was made in the image of God

and therefore man was to reflect his maker, but the character that he received after the fall has been warped

and continues to degenerate because of sin. Traditionally, God is seen as vengeful and vindictive. Why? because

humans by fallen nature are. God is seen as needing to be appeased, humans by fallen nature are. God is seen as

oppressive, cruel, dictatorial all aspects of our fallen nature have been attributed to our loving creator. Some persons

even justify this by saying " God is God so He is sovereign" or " The bible says God kills that settles it for me."

But is God like that, humans certainly are but what about God?

7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.  8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.  9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55: 7-9)

God's ways are eternally higher than our, and His love is beyond our finite comprehension. Only in eternal will we truly see more than we faintly see

now. God is love, he doesn't react or act like us. His ways and thoughts and mind are free from selfishness.
